ALFAPROJ s.r.o. was founded in 1993 and has been dedicated to the production of short arms ever since. Their impressive range includes blank-shoot revolvers, low muzzle energy shot revolvers, and life revolvers of various calibres, ranging from .22 LR to .357 Magnum. In 2002, ALFAPROJ began manufacturing Combat and Defender pistols, expanding their production to calibres from 9 mm to .45 ACP. The company further diversified its offerings by introducing air pistols and rifles for shooting sports in 2004.

As the second leader in short arms production in the Czech Republic, ALFAPROJ s.r.o. exports its products worldwide under the ALFA brand. The company prides itself on maintaining the Czech Republic's rich tradition of arms production, which dates back to the period prior to World War One, particularly in Brno.
